Hi, most of you know me as Bean or Shade.. usually both.. I'm going to ask that you refrain from asking questions or talking too much in local until I pause for a break.. I'm going to talk to you about realism in resources, the how and what we get in our day to day lives.. I'm not trying to tell you how or why you can do something in your back story but to help make your story a bit more realistic.

That being said with realism comes reason, a reason for your character to work porn, turn tricks, or do anything, or lets put it this way.. Dick's character is a coke head.. Dick wants to play that he is high so he can do something stupid.. Dick suddenly has enough drugs in his back pack to get a team of Midget strippers to the moon....Dont be a Dick..

Bob on the other hand wants to get his character high, he goes and finds someone who is dealing this takes times and makes contacts in the city.. He has to continue relationships with these people and he has to think about where he is getting the cash to get high.. he over spends, he has to get an extra job.. Hold up one of Dick's midgget strippers.. steal lie and cheat.. working his character down the streets of crime.. This just shows one way that a character's daily life can lead them down the road to actual story...

any questions so far?

Cash and getting cash should be a deciding factor in your character's life. Its nice to have bank accounts flooded with so much cash that you can have a personal chef and ball washer around to cover your every need and want but lets think about this for a moment.. What is the reason for your character to do the things he or she does, much less live in a town like Dead End? Dead End isnt supposed to be the town to go to when you have tons of bank and are rolling the easy life.. Dead End is supposed to be the town you go to when you're broke as hell.. If your character has 100000000000 dollars in the bank and is running from the cops, why would they pick Dead End? A dirty stinking town with tons of problems, danger and terrible winters; when with the same amount of money they could live on some tropical island sipping fruity drinks out of the belly buttons of strippers of the gender of their choice?

Bean is a prime example of the kind of person who comes to DE.. She came to DE looking for her brother, who she was separated from.. She was homeless and has been turning tricks for cash for years, but I threw in a background of a few other things to cover her personality and the things I wanted her to be.. a couple of them were actually exploited to get Bean to the point she is at right now.. Repressed memories, of abuse, this was written in originally to give her a darker side that never came out, and to keep rape scenes from getting too drawn out into revenge plots.. During the story line of Bean a few terrible things happened with the very deliberate plot to make the memories that she had repressed come to life.. During that time she worked her way up after Pagan Icly introduced her to Doc from the Dead Rabbits, and she met Spike and kay who gave her income and the ability to get off the streets.. Everything Bean has become has come from a series of IC events..

Any questions??

Weapons.. A very very common reason for people to pull everything shy of a nuke out of their underpants is "I was in the military obviously I have this just laying around the house"
Sorry but no.. that isnt how it works in Rl and it shouldnt be how it works in DE either.. Just because you were trained with something and know how it works and have touched it during your military background does not mean that Uncle Sam, or any special forces, reg military, black ops unit is just going to give you a fully functioning bazooka to take home and use to impress the ladies.. It doesnt happen that way.. Think back to the vets you know, do they have their m-16.. M-60, or Bradly anti tank weapon laying around the house?? I know none of the ones I know have been able to keep such wonderful parting gifts.... A belt buckle.. Yup! A Kbar fighting knife.. Totally, if you bought it from the base store.. all these things are very very possible, but flash bangs, regular bangs, super bangs and all manner of grenades.. Not so much..

Everyone needs their weapons most of the things we use in De are readily available at any store in the country, at least since Dead End is in America... Where I am from, which is the middle of nowhere I can drive an hour or less in any direction and find myself face to face with an assortment of knives, axes, hatchets, chainsaws, sex toys, power tools, pet devices, shock collars, cheap swords, sporting goods, or garden tools.. any of these can be used as a weapon, but higher grade or custom weapons should be sought out through an IC weapons dealer.. I get most of Bean and Shade's weapons from IC sources, outside of the basic stuff.. stun guns for example I get from the weapons dealers in town, just because they are custom... Then Bean adds her own tweaks to the project..

Any Questions?

Now onto training, we all need it to fight, but the question is how did we get it? The easy answer is I was GI Joe before I came to De.. No seriously I have the Snake Eyes outfit still in my closet! Or you could go with other ideas.. Shade for example was a bare knuckle boxer before her turn to a law abiding citizen, and Bean was trained by Ming and the Ling Chi to capitalize on her years of running from the law and using a skateboard to get around.. I have tried to give them both different fighting styles and weakenesses because of this.. Bean cant take the same amount of punishment as Shade can and Shade cant fly around like Bean does.. Think about your own character and strenghts and weaknesses when you get into a fight in DE.. We can only have so many 19 year old perfectly trained ex navy seals with 1000000000 dollars in the bank and a body so perfect that God himself uses their Facebook account to jack off to..

Thank you and I hope you take some of this into consideration because with any story conflict is needed.. And good conflict comes from character flaws and imperfections and playing on strengths and weaknesses. I'll give one more parting example before we go... If you look at the old 1989 version of Batman, who did you root for.. Batman or the Joker? I rooted for the Joker I knew he wouldnt win but I wanted him do, because he was flawed. Batman was too perfect.. Everything about him was wonderful and dark flowers flew out of his ass when he farted.. Joker on the other hand was flawed, wronged and the world had turned on him.. So he turned on the world.. It makes perfect sense..

Any final questions?
