First of all, I want to thank all of you for the support over my extended absence the last two weeks. It was much needed and now that life has stopped screwing me I am ready to get back and cause some chaos. But there are a few things I want to bring up to the community.

As admins we had a talk about this, and felt it was best to let the community have a say in a few things.

During my absence, I had a chance to log on on an alt and roam the community as a new player. So I do understand the struggle of not knowing anyone and getting started as a new player and how discouraging it can be when you don't get roleplay.

Bar with me here, there are a few topics I want to cover.

Fear

There is a lack of fear in DE, as a long time player, I have watched this disappear over the last few years. Long gone are the days an innocent feared walking down the street. Now, we have people with an innocent tag but they are armed, they fight back they act big and scary, its a turn off to bad guys.

Now, I am not saying you need to walk around unarmed, and do what ever a bad guy wants. But if you are going to play an innocent, its probably best to act that way. Sweet, kind, naive, maybe carry a knife or pepper spray. cause lets face it, DE is a scary place. The idea is to not out aggress the aggressor, let them have the upper hand, not saying you cant fight back but if you are going to play a victim, play a victim.

Weapons and tasers

Realism. Thats the word i am going to use here. Sim rules state that no unconcealed weapons. That means you should only carry what is easy to conceal in the clothes or items you are wearing. For example: if you are wearing tiny shorts and a tank top its is highly unlikely you are carrying knives, brass knuckles, a whip and a taser, cause dont forget you have a cell phone and wallet too. The realization here is that if you are dressed that way you likely have a knife in your pocket, thats small and your cell phone. Not and arsenal.

Tasers are another issue. I have seen an increasing number of people who carry these. Now i am not saying its a bad thing, DE is rough you need to protect yourself. I am proposing limiting the use. and as i stated above you may not always carry it. especially in skimpy clothes, some of those are bulky and not easy to conceal.

Now, yes there are some sim rule here but here is the proposal:

Rather then telling you you cant do this anymore, we want to ask the DEPD to step up and start busting people with weapons who have weapons clearly displayed, take them and write a ticket. and to add to the fear, shake down people who look shady even if they are innocent. Tickets are a great way to expand roleplay, and while they don't mean arrests they do help new cops get numbers when they cant make arrests all the time.

If your weapons are confiscated by the police, you cannot magically get them back, if you do not pay the fine and retrieve them from the PD you must wait a minimum of 12 RL hours before they can be replaced and used again.

Money

DE is a poor city, the increasing number of people who constantly have tons of money is a concern. But we have a solution. Yes we do.

We are setting up a hotline for concerned citizens who feel someone is illegally obtaining funds or even you want to see them suffer. the IRS will be auditing members of the community based on citizen based tips. This is part of a on going story line and we feel it might be fun to expand it. So if you feel, for example, you think Kay some how came into a lot of money rather illegally, whether its true or not, you can call this hotline and report it. Then a IRS officer will investigate. Who knows maybe someone will have their accounts frozen and you can laugh as they struggle to make ends meet. Fun right?

Finally

Dont be afraid to approach new people and start a scene, you were new too at one point and they want to feel welcomed too.

Now, we welcome any and all feedback on this. Please remember this is not the place to bash any one or call names. If you have any issues that are inflammatory in any way please feel free to send me a private message and we will address them properly. Please be constructive in your feedback.

Thanks!
