Hi all! Many of you have seen me in OOC or heard about me in RP or seen me about the sim, but this is the first time I have ever posted in the forums. I am here though because as of late there has been some tremors of frustration and irritation. Last night it came to a head though as I was asked about my actions in OOC chat as people discussed sim wide plots. I love them personally, but there is a lot of headaches that come with them. Primarily? The idea as RPers we want the right to act out stories or not. Now I know that the largest crutch for this argument is the idea of the meteor back in May. While many of us chose not to really rp it, either by not acknowledging or denying its exsistance or blatantly ignoring anything dealing with it. What bit me in the ass and I feel others in the ass was the idea that when the meteor did strike and wipe out the heart of the main sim people who didn't want to rp it were suddenly forced to have to handle it. Now I personally used it as a catalyst to become an officer of the PD, so while it spurred me on I can see where others have issues with it. Now the discussion of powergaming comes in when we are told that said sim plots such as the meteor strike are forced upon us like this. We are told that powergaming is a very bad thing, but here we are having things shoved on us by the same people that told us that powergaming isn't allowed in sim. This isn't the only occasion, while I loved the Valentine's Day plot, people were forced to have to deal with it as it was suddenly in everything we did....from food to water. It made people have to accept it. There was no choice left there. Do you, as a community agree, disagree, not care? I would love to get everyone's feelings on this.
