warumono-modesaidDead End Police Department TYPE: SLURL: BACKGROUND: I think that the direction of the DEPD needs to be changed, the DEPD is strongly female inherent and very difficult it seems for men to play in. Most of the men in the DEPD that I have spoken too do not feel like they have anyone of rank to back them up if a female speaks up against them. Their is also the term "carebear cop" thrown around a great deal. I feel like a lot of the DEPD needs to adjust it's corruption level and how it behaves as a working group. For events, OOC Meetings: An OOC Meeting of the DEPD once every Month to assist players with playing corrupt characters, to answer questions about current plots and to take new plot ideas from members of the DEPD. This meeting would be ooc with a sign posted so that everyone would know it is ooc during this time period. It is a period of time where they can ask questons, get information, and answers to questions. I think it would also help new players find out how to fit better in the DEPD. IC Meeting: Every month an in character meeting would take place in the DEPD to discuss current caseloads and what is going on in characer. This would also be the period of time for training that would be offered to those interested in going into specific branches of the DEPD, such as Forensics, Swat, and Detective Training, which I think needs to be more detailed. I'd like to lay out specific training for all three branches and have players interested in those branches going forward to be able to traverse that training. Also Taser Training Certification Courses would be handled, in which the DEPD officers would get a chance to rp being tased, and watch their Captain be tased - I think it would help players learn appropriately how to handle tasers icly, and how people will respond to being tased. I would also make up cerificates for those that past taser training, and it would help new players a lot to interact at this level. My character would fit into management as Captain of the DEPD, or even one of two captains, I would be willing to work with anyone else chosen as Captain closely to help make the DEPD one of the finest groups of players out there. UNIQUE: One of the things I've noticed is the DEPD is very active, I'd love to affect the direction of the DEPD, more corruption but better hidden corruption. A better public face on it, and would also make more suggestions on plots to better the DEPD - such as perhaps redzones or super dangerous areas that cops would hesitate or not be willing to go into alone - such as the redlight district or sewers (right now we just go blundering in) I'd like to see plots to make these areas even more dangerous - so that even the bravest of cops is like "Well, this is a bad idea" I think this would help give characters playing criminals a place and wayt o "run and escape" which offers options for more RP and better rp. My goal would be for people to really enjoy rping with the DEPD - not get angry or exasperated with it. EXPERIENCE:Well Personal qualities, I used to be a cop in real life, and i'm retired, I have a lot of time to spare, I am in college, but i'm only taking six hours a week, which means I'm not very busy at all, and this is not going to change next semester either. I'm open minded, and not ashamed to admit when I mess up or when i need help. I know how to work with admins and if I have an issue how to go to them for help. I know how to de-escalate drama and when drama has reached toxic levels and what to do when that happens. I'm good with people and I'm friendly with just about everyone-- I know how to talk with people and get them to calm down too, which will be helpful as a leader oocly. IDEAS:I plan on engaging new players by involving them directly in the DEPD, I have in mind a buddy system that is more planned out than the one we currently have, I would like to arrange Lt's and Sergeants to take a bigger role in training rookies. Currently new players are tossed to whichever cop walks in the door. I'd like to see this change so that the Lt's, Sergeants and Detectives walk new players through basic intro instead of giving them a notecard. I also think that the Hazing period in which players are just called "rookie" and pretty much treated like trash needs to end - it's losing us a lot of new players. It's not welcoming and it causes us to have a huge turnover, and a lot of sniping and bad attitudes from current officers - this wouldn't be allowed icly and I think paring with Lt's and Sergeants out the gate would help deal with the issue especially when they are informed that hazing or "rookie week" should not be happening. OTHER:Well the DEPD hasn't really closed, so it wouldn't need a reopening, however, if I was approved as Captain of the DEPD, one of the first things I would do is hold a meeting where I could listen to the concerns and problems in the DEPD, and then take suggestions from the DEPD on how to fix those issues. We haven't had any sort of ooc or ic meeting in ages, and these really need to happen! If a grand-reopening event needed to happen, I would be up for creating a DEPD Job Fair Day, in which players could team up with a cop for the day to see what the job is like and recieve tours of the DEPD with a cop. |
