I'm currently playing catch-up. I've been doing a lot of RPing but not much in the way of writing to back it up. Soon, we'll start to meet another part of the character that will horrify and add a lot more depth to those who haven't met my character yet. He does tend to cause some confusion and even some intrigue.

Those whom might have met him already know who he is and a little bit of what he's about but those who haven't may need an explanation.

First, what I'm gonna do in the limited amount of time that I have right now to write is just tell you a little bit about why I've built Damien Christos the way I have. A lot of what inspired the character came from right here in the sim. As a friend of mine once told me, when people don't know who you are, you can be whoever you want to be. Thanks to those two factors, I decided to do a little playing. Since this was a sim devoid of religious iconography, I slipped some archetypes into the character to show that, while they did do him some good, there were people using those archetypes to hurt him as well. What's going to happen with that? Who knows? That's the beauty of it. I'm letting the character write itself.

There was also an incident with two metagamers and one god moder recently. In my frustration, I made some bloopers but I've incorporated them into the story and I'm still looking for a way to make them fit without people thinking, "Oh Bullshit, Buddy!" I'm normally at work, on my breaks working on those things so bear with him. He was a cop and now he's kinda stuck in a limbo over it so he's acting like the drifter he was when he entered Dead End.

The alternate personality storyline is one I worked up because Damien seemed like too much of a good guy...not something this town is looking for. So far, he's well-liked among people that know him but the problem is it's Damien that is the alternate personality....the actual personality is an amoral snake in the grass who's waiting patiently for his next victim and he doesn't like killing but prefers to break others and scar them mentally and permanently. Where you'll find Damien's southern Memphis Charm to lure you in, you may find the other personality charming as well....but there's just something not right with him. Metallica's song "Prince Charming" actually inspired that part of the character.

Finally, the music. I was actually working on Damien's moonlighting as a musician when a friend of mine pointed out that the same thing was happening on a recent TV show called "Memphis Beat". I went with it anyway. Damien's not going to stick to performing Elvis songs publicly. He prefers the solitude of the alleyways and the rooftops because he doesn't believe his own ability and voice warrant a public display.

The last thing I want to do before I sign off is thank some people publicly. Lucy, Tiffany, Alundra, Sinistra (Even though my character has trouble pronouncing your name half the time), Angelique, Brian, Brett (You gotta give up those smokes before you get cancer, digitally speaking), Kirsten, Fang, Rouise, I mean, Louise, Huia, Ikooba, Whirl, Nisha and even the godmoders and metagamers who derailed my story recently. I know that sounds funny but they did give me something I could work with and salvage. You're still on the blocked list though. I gave you a second chance and you totally went and screwed it up. Your fault. Deal with it.

But to all those I thanked, I couldn't have developed this character without you guys getting so involved. If I didn't thank you by name and you feel like you personally contributed something, however small it might be (but damn sure nowhere near trivial) I apologize for not listing you, just know that I thank you no matter what your contribution was.

So, I have to bounce for work for the time being but when I return, I think I may be out of the sim for a couple of days (yeah, right with my addiction to this thing?) just to catch up on the writing.

For anyone who wishes to join in, I'm still game and I thank you for the contributions. If anyone wishes a contribution to their own storyline, hit me up.
