It became fairly clear to me this evening why we have such a difficult time keeping emergency responders around (be it PD/FD) while playing on my PD alt, Ash. Please keep the following things in mind:

PD/FD scenes take a LONG time to RP out, even if there are only a few people involved.
1st there is responding to the call IC
2nd, once on scene, you wait a round before posting in...the responder then has to RP out figuring out what's going on, which usually takes another couple rounds..then possibly breaking up a fight and questioning everyone, taking a few more rounds.
3rd the responder, in my case, PD...has to attempt to arrest this person. If the person resists, they must then post three posts...one drawing their weapon, one aiming and one pulling the trigger.
In many cases they also have to try to RP out issuing some kind of crowd control and a lot of times NPC some help. Usually there are a lot of people standing around and everyone taking a turn really draws the scenes out. It is a fairly stressful role to RP, especially when you're new at it and haven't learned all of the tricks.

But after the "street" scene, the RP doesn't end there. They still have to take the person back to the station and RP out their arrest and booking, having them change their clothes, putting them into the cell etc.

But wait! There's MORE! Then they have to log it all.

My whole point of this is this...when you see the PD/FD asking people to leave the scene, they're really not trying to be dicks...many times it causes lag, but more than that, they'd like to end the scene sometime within the next 24 hours.

My suggestion..if you're not a critical part of what's going on in the scene, try not to stick around or come into it. If you're really super curious, stand way back just within chat range, but don't emote into the scene...you can always ask in OOC or IM what's happening if you really want to know.
