Nah, no problem. Honestly, the only thing I care about is to be immersed in the role as everyone else is with theirs. A lot of that has to do with being realistic with it.

I’ve went ahead and made the Parolee/Probationer group. I’m assuming that the Judges are going to be owners of it? I just need names and where to plug them in.

    Also, I…[Read more]

Oh, as an aside, the gal I was “questioning” wasn’t being questioned. When I was done & left my prisoner, she called me over and asked if I was a Lawyer. So I switched hats and decided to play “visitor” for a while to give the poor girl some RP since I was already there.

Why is it apparently ok for anyone else to visit prisoners, but when I do…[Read more]

Ah, I see where you’re coming from now. Yeah, there seems to be a little bit of conflict at the top end.

As far as the rookies were concerned, it actually worked out good I think. There was great communication between Roxy and I as far as specifics (searching/Miranda/etc). Lots of great communication to ensure proper protocol was conducted.…[Read more]

I kind of touched up on that already, but I’ll gladly rehash & summarize.

First and foremost, my “jurisdiction” is for probationers/parolees only. Just like in RL if I witness a felony in progress I can act, but I don’t go around hunting for it playing beat cop.

With the example of Lilly being a probationer, I think it’ll clear it up some. The…[Read more]

Admins: Any word on when court is going to start happening? Hopefully on a weekly basis like Saturdays? Individual players don’t need to be there (they can make a written statement for the court to hear). As long as there’s a Judge & lawyers, it should be ok. It’s not perfect, but at least it’s something.

I really can’t do much and the PD is…[Read more]

Static Bandits. Sounds like fabric softener–a fitting name for a female heavy group. :p

Seriously though, from the small RP I’ve seen you guys do, I’m really excited to see you tear shit up and hopefully get to RP with you guys on my side of the food chain from time to time. The “Ideas” block was really impressive & glad you are pro-actively…[Read more]

    This is a double-edged sword.

While yes, it is just role-play, there has to be a degree of believability. Like Steph was suggesting, when there’s a point when immersion turns to asshattery, it’s impact is now negative. That isn’t to suggest that people shouldn’t be creative, but when creativity is used as an excuse to introduce far-fetched…[Read more]

    Hey Shade.

Therapy is outside the scope of a PO’s duty as they are not health professionals. Their (ideal) degree is Criminal Justice. Their expertise is the monitoring and enforcement of parole/probation. For that particular p/p condition, you would want to see a Psychologist, Clinical Nurse (Therapist) or some other specialist.

    Where a PO…[Read more]

Hey Akima. I’m still glancing over my shoulder while looking for you

There has been some, but this is easier. It’s also good info for other people too. Knowledge is power and if it’s just kept in IMs, no one else can benefit from it. Not only that, I love getting feedback for stuff I may haven’t considered when I offer an opinion.

    Some…[Read more]

Hm, I’m now pretty confused. Folks are working tirelessly to portray accurate (as possible) PD RP, and now court proceedings are being entertained, but the PO seems to potentially be falling short.

POs as PD. Bad idea, and no where realistic. While on sim, yes there should be training for POs, once that training is done, that’s it. The link…[Read more]

Since this has been part of the big courtroom dialog, and since I’m currently the only PO, I figured I would share this to stir the creative juices as well as general info. For you Admin types, edit/tweak to your heart’s content should it be valuable to use for info elsewhere..

Don’t mind the “DE” references, that was just tweaked to highlight…[Read more]

I’ve seen a TON of role-play potential be flushed down the toilet because people didn’t do things like what is suggested here. While the incident is great and fun for the participants, there is rarely any follow-through (my experience). The fault is usually either the criminal side or the lack of pro-active effort on the law enforcement side…[Read more]

Why? I didn’t suggest it wasn’t practical, just a pain in the ass at times.

As far as the AO is concerned, just get a HUD (this is assuming that the AO used is the client itself normally). With the number of folks coming in via mobile mediums being small, I don’t think the resources used for it would impact much. “Problem” solved.

Typing on a phone will be bit of a chore. I’ve done it on mine and when I’m not fighting with typos or correcting silly auto-completes, I’m sweating trying to post reasonably fast with a decent amount of content.

In regards to the AO question, yes it does matter in my opinion. Call me shallow or superficial, but this isn’t MSN or IRC, it’s a 3D…[Read more]
