Continuing my odyssey through the businesses of Dead End, I've come to the end of my week at the convenience store.

1) Having a convenience store for rp reasons is a good idea, in terms of giving people a place to get their smokes and their condoms and whatnot....

2) If you rp there people will come. They just wont stay. Lots of people stopped in to see me this week, but aside from alina continuing a long term rp with me they didn't really stay very long. Convenience store transactions are, by their very nature, fleeting. the entire point of a convenience store is you get in, get a few things, and get out. Unlike a restaurant or a bar, where the transaction is just the beginning of the RP, the transaction IS the rp at the convenience store.

At more traditionally succesful rp businesses, there's a reason to linger. you drink your drink, eat your food, have a massage. While there you converse with others, find new storylines and further your own. This kind of RP is possible because the nature of the business actively encourages it. The convenience store is designed to get you in and out. This presents a challenge to anyone who takes over the convenience store or works there.

3) Potential solutions

a) keep the usefulness of having a quicky mart by turning it into a shell and using the prims for something else. This is sub-optimal as it doesnt create rp so much as it simply allows rp, like having smokes.

b) give people a reason to stay. Turn the quickie mart into a combination quickimart/pawn shop. Give those Dead Enders who actually realistically rp their money a place to go when they need cash, or a place for thieves to fence their goods. Again, it can be tied into the kind of RP possible at the casino... provided people are willing to stop throwing around 100 dollar bills five times a week ๐Ÿ˜‰ There's a ton of unused space in the back of the store. Put a secure door on the back, a few shelves with boxes on it and maybe a barred grate where the register is and you can easily add pawn shop rp to the quickie mart. I think this would increase the viability of the space for rp, and encourage managers and workers to stick with the shop.

Anyway, my two cents. On to the next adventure starting tomorrow.
