Decided to make a diary, chronically my life in Dead End. Since I got here a week ago my life has gone topsy turvy.

I've lived in California all my life. Well...I was born in Korea but only lived there until I was like 2. I remember dad telling me that life in America was better for young girls like me. I would have a lot more opportunity. I didn't care about opportunity or even education. I just wanted to be young and happy.

I discovered skateboarding when I was like 8. I was hooked on it from that moment on. Mom and Dad finally bought me my first board for Christmas a year after that. I spent day and night skating. Eventually I got so good at it I wanted to make a career out of it.

Mom was skeptical of me being a pro skateboarder. She said I had more potential to be a doctor or a lawyer rather than a skateboarder. I knew she was right, but I didn't want to grow up and be a boring adult like her and dad.

I ran away from home at 15 because I heard them talking about having me take an advancement test or something. I wasn't ready to grow up yet. I was just a teenager. That first night was terrifying but I was glad to have met Angela. She was the coolest person ever.

Angela and I stayed close over the years. We worked together a lot to bring in some cash for motel rooms. She introduced me to weed which became one of my most favorite things.

I delivered a lot of packages on my board until I could afford a better one. I bought my first official skateboard and couldn't stop riding it. Angela told me I was so good I could win competitions. Eventually I decided to try it. I signed up for the SanFran Pro-Skate competition and fucking won! I won five thousand dollars. It was the coolest thing to happen to me. Angela and I went on a big shopping spree after that. Eventually we realized we needed money to survive. We were both living on the street practically.

I was winning competitions a lot. I didn't win them all which was a bummer but it was a lot of fun. I was approached by a guy who wanted to sponsor me. I could become a pro skater! I talked to Angela about it and she was really excited for me. But it meant traveling all over the country performing like some monkey in a circus. I didn't want to leave her behind. Despite being broke and homeless I was happier than I had ever been and backed out of the sponsorship.

Life took a weird turn when Angela suddenly disappeared one day. I looked for her everywhere but she had just vanished. It took about two months before I found out what happened. She had been put in prison for armed robbery with her boyfriend. She's still serving her sentence. I think she'll be getting out in about 10 years.

Life moved on eventually. I was still skating and competing for money but I was really missing Angela. She and I were like two peas in a little green pod. I met other friends but she was the yin to my yang. Best friends forever.

I met a guy named Daniel who always talked about moving to New York City and starting over. He wanted me to come with him but I wasn't sure about leaving California. He eventually talked me into it and we were making plans to go. I won a competition but I only made enough to buy this beat up old station wagon. It at least had enough room that Daniel and I could sleep in the back. We were packing shit up when he suddenly changed his mind! He told me to go along without him. So I did.

I drove for what felt like weeks, sleeping in the back of that damn car every night. I somehow took a wrong turn and ended up in Michigan. The fucking car broke down about a mile outside of a city I never even heard of. That's how I got here to Dead End.
