There's a new type of predator in town and she's called Syn Rosa.

Syn is not new to the city. In fact, I've been playing her for around seven months now. She started as an innocent and after her initial recovery from madness (which had lasted six years in her background story) she worked hard to keep other girls safe and fight rapists. This battle has worn her down so much that a deeper madness has slowly taken over and turned her into the predator she now is.

People don't really see the madness. She appears and behaves as a strong and independant women, which she also is of course. She still works as a doctor in the asylum, helps out with the EMT and does all this with a posture of wanting to help and really caring. But underneath that stable looking exterior lurks a unquenchable desire to possess and hurt. Pandora helped this madness emerge and take the shape of the conviction that she is possessed by a spider spirit. Hallucinating in a swamp when mentally unstable can do that to people, which means that Syn might at times act like she's a witch or priestess of a spider goddess, but there will be no actual magic of course, it is all psychosis. Syn regards herself as a black widow and keeps spiders as pets in her bedroom. She seems to have two goals in life now: to create offspring and to feed.

Syn of course still can't have children herself (as a result of being tortured in her past) but she will capture women and keep them as if they are her children and take care of them as such. At the same time she will hunt for men and force them to try and impregnate her, after which she will try to kill those men or use them for experimentation. She might also use her socalled daughters to lure men closer and then abduct them to perform her experiments on them.

The web Syn Rosa is weaving in the city is growing steadily and hopefully the Rosa family will become one of the sinister forces that lurks in the background of this great roleplaying Sim.

All of this is still in line with her original background, but it places the Shelter story in a different light in hindsight. I always like to play as subtle as I can, which could make some of her actions incomprehensible, but this description of how Syn is operating and thinking could make things clearer. If Syn shows motherly feelings or behaves like she is horny, remember there's a spider lurking behind those feelings. 😉
