There is a creek of floorboards outside the door. Heart racing, eyes closed tightly shut. Seleste tries to make herself as small as possible beneath the covers as she hears the handle of the door begin to turn. She knew what would happen next, this wasn't the first time. Her small fingers reach beneath the pillow, curling tightly around the steak knife she'd stolen from her mama's kitchen. She tries to calm her breathing, sweat beading on her skin. A sliver of light from the hallway as the door creeps open. She can see it even through the blankets and the closed eyes. Soft footsteps against the wooden floor, the creek of the boards again. He was close. Seleste opens her eyes, a sudden calm coming over her. She knew what to do, what she had to do. Footsteps closer, the blankets starting to move.

He was here.

Ten years later:

Seleste stands behind the bar at Lulu's, a glass in her hand and a towel in the other. Her bright blue eyes sparkle when she smiles, small dimples adorning her cheeks as she welcomes the newcomers. She always seems friendly, though becomes evasive when asked about her past more often than not. She looks rather young, but definitely of age. Smooth caramel colored skin, soft as silk framed by slightly curly jet black hair finish out her petite frame. She's quite short though curvacious. Her movements around the bar as she mixes, pours and stirs the drinks for her customers lend to the fact that this is not her first tending gig.

Seleste moves gracefully, hinting that she perhaps might have danced once upon a time and every now and again a Louisiana accent might slip out without her realizing it. She seems to take comfort in the busy, loud surroundings of the bar, smiling often and even flirting every now and again with the customers, despite the dim atmosphere. She is not above showing a bit of skin to make better tips, she realized early on that money is power and she wants more, though she generally goes about it in legal ways.

Seleste is sweet, kind and caring, but she's no pushover. She is a typical "good girl fallen on bad circumstances". She tends to get herself into situations she's not entirely prepared to get herself out of with her caring nature. When pushed though, she will fight back and she won't go down and out without a fight.
