So What Exactly is a MarySue or a Marty Stue? Anyway?

A Mary Sue or Marty Stue is a character who is given or is expected to be given unwarranted preferential treatment and unearned respect, thereby compromising the integrity and believability of a scene or the characters inside it.

. The hall mark of a Mary or Marty is that they will have few, if any meaningful challenges, hardships, or handicaps. Obstacles that exist for others are virtually nonexistent or pose little or no challenge for a Mary or Marty.

- Characters who are normally grouchy or hostile are immediately able to sense the goodness/specialness of the Mary or Marty Sue, and warm right up to them. Severe Indignation if they do not.

- Characters who have enemies that want them dead and/or they are in possession of highly coveted knowledge or items.
- Other characters are not supposed to take reasonable precautions in the event that the character is an infiltrator sent to kill them or steal from them.
-Enemies and Rivals of the Marty and Mary Sue will be defeated quickly and easily, or will pose no threat. In essence, straw men and paper tigers.
-Friends and family members are virtually nonexistent, thus freeing up their social schedules for the people they want to hang out with
-Expects other characters to be inordinately fascinated with themselves.
-Things that were supposed to have been genuine hardships won't have a realistic impact on the character or their life. Emotional traumas might dissapear at the typist's convience. Unblemished looks despite living a life in the slums, or lived such a hardscrabble life that they mastered a difficult skill despite there not being enough hours in their schedule to become an amateur, let alone a master.

A few examples
- Mary Sue/Marty Stue drinks and attends wild parties, her job is never affected, she is always on time, and never appears to have a hangover.
-MarySue/Marty Sue openly commits a crime inside someone's kitchen as a "joke" despite the joke having been costly such as explosives, and that it would cost thousands to repair and the character is already struggling with two jobs as it is, nobody will think it is wrong to do the crime and nobody will call the police, let alone press charges.
-MarySue/Marty Stue did serious harm to other characters, people that other characters care about, or their property, yet afterwards, all is forgiven and no grudges are held by anyone in character. Mary or Marty are never held accountable and the issue is never brought up again.

- Marysue/Marty Stue aren't just character's that you don't like, nor are they simple love interests thrown in out of left field.
With a genuine Marty or Mary, you'll feel like the other players are trying to rub your nose in how awesome, special, or amazing their character is. Mary Sues/Marty Stues are often involved in poorly developed relationships.

BUT! Before you go around screaming MarySue and Marty Stue
