There are many people in Dead End who want to do dirty things ICly but yet are not willing to roleplay out their consequences. They commit ICly the most heinous crimes but are yet unwilling to spend even ten minutes in jail. One of the things that have come to bother me as a Dead End Police Officer is that often times, someone will brazenly commit a heinous crime in front of one/more police officer(s) but yet deny OOC consent to the police officers to do anything about their actions. The reason this really bothers me is that, realistically, if one is to brazenly do a severe crime in front of police officers and the officers see it (which they obviously will), the officers will have no choice but to do something about it-they're not just going to let it happen and turn a blind eye. Realistically, just like you wouldnt find actual pigs in uniforms walking the beat, you are not going to find many beat cops who are just going to stand there and do nothing as someone is being brutally lets say beaten in the streets in front of him. Earlier today, several others and myself had a conversation in the Crack Den OOC chat about establishing a lawless area where police officers would ICly not be allowed to enforce laws in for whatever reason (proposed reason in CD: area is out of jurisdiction of local police-some place on the far corner of the sim that no longer belongs to Dead End City and the jurisdiction of DEPD). I think Dead End should really look into possibly setting up such an area as a "Lawless District;" such a place would not only be interesting but would also well cater to those who want to roleplay crimes uninterrupted and realistically. This way, if one is to choose to do a scene outside the lawless area, then they should be expecting that if officers see it something will be done; while, if one is to choose to do a scene in the "lawless district" then they should be safe and if any officer would try to walk the beat in the lawless area then that officer should expect to be denied consent to enter any scene (in addition to possibly facing the consequences ICly within the dept for going somewhere they are ICly banned from going). Someone has already posted this suggestion to CD forums before I took this to DE forums.
