*She woke with a startle, falling out of her bed in the Dick's Halfway Inn motel, she glanced towards the sleeping figure on the couch, and heaved a sigh, she'd not woken her best friend, Rena. Her eyes closed, and she grabbed a pair of ratty jeans and a worn down old t-shirt, heading towards the bridge. There she could smoke and think. She finally made it, her bare feet wiggling in her tennis shoes, as she stared out into the night and listened to the calming and grounding of the rushing water. She dug a pack of cigs and a battered pink lighter out of her pocket, and with shaking hands lit up a marlboro.
"Fuck Kess, when are you going to quit dreamin about et." the soft husky voice asked herself. Her irish and arabic accent was quite clear, and often confused people, for it was neither straight one without the other. She closed her eyes, pulling a hand along her face.
"you quit it Kess. You quit it right now. There ain't no use cryin about spilled perfum' an yae know et. You get yer head on straight girl. you get et' on straight and yae get yer arse intae thae station and gae to work." she sighs, and stared down at the water instead.
"I miss him.." she kicked the railing faintly, making her toes hurt. "I miss Ran sae damn much..how can yae find yer everythin' an thae et's just gone. Yer gone." she murmmers to herself. "Ye get on, don't yae get depressed now lass. Come on.." she talks to herself, knowing it's not healthy but not able to help herself. Finally she leans against the railing, talking to the water.

"yae know..before et happened, I considered' maeself thae luckiest bitch en thae world. I had et all, a job thae I luved, a man thae I loved..family in thae best friend in thae world..an then five seconds later mae dreams wer' shattered, like a glass bulb et christmastime." she stares down at the water. "Et's about time thae I let yae go Ran. I've tried tae forget before, but I've nae quite..let you go, I guess. So thae's bae guidbae lad." she smirked, remembering all the Dr Who and Star Trek they watched, laughing and throwing popcorn at each other. Her eye closed for a moment as she stood there, staring down into the water. "Maybe I kin make a new start har.' A real new start..I guess..I guess I'll wait en' see. See if I kin pick maeself up..I'll never know until ah try."
She turns and heads towards the Easy Eight, or the PD, she wasn't sure where, but she needed something to do, either throwing out idiots from a poolhall or walking the beat with her partner...it didn't matter, whichever way it went.
