Kara was a smart girl who always looked up to her father, a doctor in the Royal Navy who had served in warzones on ship board, and her mother, a nurse who had served with him. Kara knew that was what she was destined to do. But one day that all changed.

She studied to become a nurse right out of what the US calls, High School, taking the hint from her mother that the girl becomes the nurse and the guy the doctor, an old fashioned approach. Having done well on her testing in school she was able to get accepted to the most prestigious college in her chosen field. She went to university at the Florence Nightingale School of Nursing at King's College in London at a young age of 17 and graduated with her Adult Nursing Degree at the age of 20. Subsequently she immediately started looking at the Royal Navy to follow in both of her parents footsteps but had to hold off until she had done some time in the wards of the hospitals. Fortunately this was not a problem for her as her grades and Diploma/Msc (Honors) in Adult Nursing made her quite a catch for any hospital staff.

She chose the life of a gypsy as a nurse though, spending no more then 3 months at any one hospital around England, moving and enjoying life but always looking for the time when she'd meet the requirements to join the Navy as a Nursing Officer. Getting her registrations and certifications with the Nurse and Midwifery Council were a breeze, but they wanted more: 2 years of practice.

Then the day came and she signed up to be a Naval Nursing Officer, and that's the day she saw the news paper article about the first ever woman to qualify to wear the prestigious olive drab green beret of the British Commandos. Having been an athletic woman she was sure that there would be more behind this one captain that had taken 4 tries to get there.

Kara was determined that would be her path. She set that as a goal and forced herself to excel in her basic training, then get her qualification as a swimmer canoeist and then move on and test for the special forces selection under the SAS... and passed. But she was not offered the British Commandos, the fighters of legend, but offered a chance to join the Special Boat Services, the SBS, as a field nurse instead.
She jumped at the chance.

While she was a nurse, she then went into full SBS training, leaning all about the special operations units that are very close to what the US Navy Seals are trained in.

Her training included: Diving (Close and open circuit), Parachuting, Demolitions, infiltration of ships and water based platforms, canoeing (including open ocean) survival training, reconnaissance (photography) and maritime counter-terrorism, as well as extensive hand to hand combat training with the legendary commandos.

She was trained to go in with the boys and girls of the SBS, and not only fight along side them, but keep them alive in the heat of battle and maybe take a few of the enemy with her. (Her style of fighting is called the Fairbairn system or Gutter Fighting, invented by the designers of the knife used by the SBS and British Commandos, the Fairbain-Sykes fighting knife. It's also called Defendu in books.)

It was during this time that Kara met a person who would become a lover. A woman, the Royal Navy not being as assinine as the US Navy, this not being a big problem. However, both of them got into a bit of trouble, and her lover decided to take all of the blame for it, and save Kara's career instead of having someone as promising suffer and ruin her facing with her family.

Between this and the war in Iraq going on, Kara lost the heart she had at one time to stay with the military, especially when her lover suddenly disappeared and stopped talking to her. No letters, no nothing.

At the end of her 5 year commision, Lieutenant Kara Nishi left the Royal Navy, not wanting to extend and headed back to civiilian life. She went looking for that woman who'd sacrificed all a year or so before that for her, but then had vanished like a puff of smoke.
One of the first things she did was head to the last known location of her former lover, a small coastal town in a forgien land named "Drifter's Passage". It was here that fate took a much different tone.

She ended up in Drifter's Passage and met a man with a similar accent to her own, sounding like he'd come from a scottish family, which he confirmed but was from a small island nation she'd only heard of in passing. She befriended him and then was betrayed when he kidnapped her with the intent to sell her on the slave market... a fate she was begining to think had happened to her former lover. All of that training, ruined and turned against her by the simple fact that she had trusted him.

While she was in captivity though, she begged Korwyn Obscure to not sell her, and showed him that she had talents that could be useful in many ways, especially her former training with the SBS. He saw this as something that was true and decided to keep her. But from there the training continued for what her new life would be... a sexual slave also.

Eventually though, something happened. Originally intending to break free at the first sign, especially if she could find her former lover, she's found heself in a situation. Even though he has many ladies, and is a bad man who takes what he wants, she has fallen for the man who kidnapped her and raped her. Stockholm Syndrome is what they call it, but she calls it the fact that maybe she was meant to be this way.

She fought many missions for him until one day he hurt her for the last time. She finally came to her senses and escaped his grasp. She returned home to see her family who were delighted to see her alive and well. She was settling back into normal life until she got word that her old flame and partner in crime RM had been kidnapped. She dropped everything, packed her bags and trusty knife, "Betty" and returned to Deadend.

Kara has had been through a tough life. Many men of come and gone. She is bitter and a drunk. Ephran, her once partner in crime took her betty from her and she has returned to take her back along with his nuts! Kara is rumored to be a slightly unsteady assasin. Few have been able to tame her wildness, though- there are a few.
