Dead End Character Bio: Marie Clark | Growing up Marie was sexually abused by her twin brother. After hiding the abuse for years, Marie finally gathered up the courage to confide in her parents in her early teens. They refused to believe her story and sent her to see a psychiatrist. However, her brother’s abuse only grew worse out of anger for her confession. Seeing no other way out, Marie attempted suicide by prescription meds. The attempt failed after she was saved by none other than her brother himself when he found her and called for an ambulance; unwilling to lose his favorite plaything. Marie was admitted to hospital psych ward and then sent to a mental hospital thereafter. Marie was released a year later a new person. No longer fighting her brother, she decided to relish in her time spent with him, and the many friends he passed her off to. All while a part of her secretly died inside. Marie began abusing alcohol and drugs in order to cope. This continued all throughout Marie’s time in high school and most of college. Until one day, while visiting, her parents walked in on her and her brother having sex. Furious, her parents had her brother arrested by claiming that Marie’s drugs were his. They then kicked her out of their house leaving her with nowhere to go. After having been dependent on her brother for entire life, and then left to wander, Marie found herself in Dead End. A recovering drug addict and alcoholic, Marie craves the addictions that used to be a stabilizing force in her life. Though short on cash, a part of her would be willing to do almost anything to have them back. Full of false bravado, Marie is quick to use her body to get herself out of sticky situations despite secretly abhorring physical touch. Used to having her brother running the show, Marie can be a little oblivious to mundane matters and can be easily hoodwinked where they are concerned. Despite her seemingly outgoing personality, Marie tends to be a loner and can often be found by herself observing the goings on. Disallowed friends or lovers (except when temporarily loaned to her brother’s friends) of any kind by her twin, Marie’s knowledge of proper social interactions is limited as is her willingness to trust. However, Marie secretly longs to fill the void that her brother has left behind whether with a friend or a lover of the male or female variety. Although her preference lies with the female persuasion. A male would have to put forth a little more effort. Her biggest fear would be a return to a mental institution which she blames for most of her issues. She no longer sees her brother having been a problem. Underneath her slightly wild and over sexualized demeanor, lies a bitter timid young woman who, in the use of the perfect cliche, is now simply looking for love in all the wrong places.

Whew and that's my character's fairly long bio. As for me, I'm super new to sl and roleplaying (apologies in advance if I screw up. I'm doing my best to read up and learn). I've been curious about roleplaying (and sl) for many years, but just now have gotten around to checking it out. I have always loved to write and so it will be interesting doing so from a roleplaying perspective. I'm a bit shy, but am super excited to try out roleplaying with you all nevertheless. Any helpful tips, due to my relative newness, would be very much appreciated 🙂
