Ottilie is a 24 year old who has come to the USA from an over privileged family in England. She has been well educated and was adored and wrapped in cotton wool by her parents so it might seem strange that she would wind up in a place like DeadEnd when she could be playing polo with the other aristocrats but sadly for Ottilie that life is just not for her. She is utterly fascinated by poverty and crime and aspires to emulate being poor to get first hand experience of how the other half live. (In a clueless way as she has no real grasp on the reality of poverty) Ottilie is generally a nice person with a liberal and idealistic view on life. Up until now she has been quite sheltered and very privileged and as a result she is fairly naive.
