I'm hearing this time and time again, somebody coming in on the DeadEnd Channel saying "hi", and having to be warned off. Half of them don't know there's an OOC channel, and since almost every other forced/alley/up-against-the-wall sim I have played in uses the default group channel for chat and chitter purpose, I can sympathise with the newcomers, they're doing what comes naturally.

I have two suggestions:

1) Using our existing methods, at the entrance, tell them there is an OOC chat channel and give them group membership for it if they don't already have it. Then continue to lambaste those who still flout the rules.

OR

2) Create a new Deadend 911 channel. Leave the Deadend group channel to be used just like the group channels in most other sims, and give everyone membership of the DE 911 channel to make their RP calls on.

I suspect that option 1) will be adopted, but I personally think we should go down option 2) route. There'll be far less need to re-educate our good players who will adapt quickly to the new channel, and far less need to administer flaming swords to the newcomers who will continue clicking on the default group and bleating "/me needs dynarod service"
