Dead End Daily Newspaper

BACKGROUND: As the leader of the Dead End Daily I will work hard to create a fun and realistic experience while contributing to the SIM and employees roleplay. The employees of the Daily are already hard at work trying to find new, inventive ways to get other players involved with the paper in some way... Currently with in depth expose's on different businesses nefarious groups within Dead End.

UNIQUE: I intend to work hard to make the paper a place that truly incorporates itself in to the community. While I realize all businesses do this, The Daily has the unique opportunity to really engrain itself in to so many of peoples Dead End lives. With the paper under my ownership I will work hard to see that every event is personally attended by a member of the newspaper so it can be reported on completely, and will encourage all staff to do all they can to make it to any notable criminal act that happens through the use of police scanners (paying attention to 911 calls).

EXPERIENCE:Although I have yet to run an IC business, I have been a business owner/operator of businesses within Second Life. I have found that people enjoy working with me and I motivate people to give their all. Although I am not the "lead" of the Paper as of yet, I seem to be the default caretaker until someone takes over, and myself and the other active reporters are already working very closely on stories and ways to utilize the newspaper to generate roleplay for both us and the SIM.

IDEAS:There are a number of ways that we can/will engage new players while on SIM. There is, of course interviewing them at crime scenes, events, etc. We can also run polls. I have also spoken to some other reporters on staff about recruiting as there are very few active reporters currently and we can use some new blood. a few good ways I can think of to engage employees is through discussing story ideas, handing out assignments... And then there is, of course calling journalists in to the bosses office to ream them out for writing a story that speaks in favor of, or against people/groups that the editor likes/dislikes

OTHER:When it comes to the idea of a grand re-opening for the newspaper, my first thought for this was to have a black tie affair, however I can recall that not too long ago Kay did the same thing for the paper. While I would do a dress-up affair, it would be with a twist. I think it would be absolutely wonderful to have an asian themed formal affair, of course catered by Jade.
