warumono-modesaidDE DailyNews TYPE: SLURL: BACKGROUND: My goal is to help create fun and exciting role play for those on the sim. I love the thought of running the paper, even though I might not be the greatest writer out there. To me a newspaper is the hub of the community, a neutral zone from factions, although if your faction wants to put someone to work at the paper to write articles that make certain factions look good and others bad, ect. I'm not opposed. I think a little perspective bias never is a bad thing. For events I would love to do monthly community events. I think a paper should be more involved in the community and put together things such as job fairs, carnivals, fairs, concerts (if plausible), town dances. The possibilities are limitless for a paper to host an event. Anything the whole community can get behind and involved in. As for new employees, I'm creating Monet as a newcomer in town. She knows no one, really is clueless about the happenings of the city. Anyone new in town will feel welcome, maybe even comforting to know their own editor is a little clueless. I plan on interviewing each person who comes for a job, if not just to make everyone feel welcomed at the paper. I also would try (different time zones, ect) to do bi-weekly staff meetings. This will help anyone needing a push for a story to get involved in. I do have some story lines for the paper I'd like to get out eventually, by using staff undercover in certain jobs to get some dirty story out there. For instance putting a reporter out on the street as a prostitute, to give a writing on what its like to live on the other end of town. If I hear rumors about businesses (I know have to be careful that my info come ICly and not OOC) getting a writer in to nose around. Of course my staff and I will be covering the stories of events, things happening around town like always. Also, have the advice columns and horoscopes. The people in the town should feel free to drop off any questions or concerns for the advice column in the drop box (or in a notecard just as if you're mailing the letter, they can state if its anonymous on the nc). Also to keep role play in the paper moving flawless I would like to eventually take on a second in charge. Someone that can step in if I'm offline. I'm a people person, and get along well with others. I work good in a team environment, and always willing to help where needed. Harmony ran the Head Shed Salon (for those who I've not met), until a few things happen (not game related) and I just had to step away. Let me add here I know I shouldn't have just disappeared like I did, but we all do things we sometime are embarrassed by, and I apologies for that. All I can do now is assure you it will not happen again. UNIQUE: The paper stands out on its own. Its how people keep up with things happening in the city. However, I believe as a business the paper lacks involvement. It will be my job to make people want to get involved in the paper. My hopes is by using undercover writers I will get people to come in and want to be a part of something different. Hosting grand events out in the town could also keep our name on people minds. Being seen is a great way to get more involved. EXPERIENCE:I have ran a business in Dead End. For my part I think I kept it active and came up with role play I'm sure I could of done more, and my plans are to go that extra mile at the paper. I can look back now and see where Harmony lacked as a business leader and where she stood out (IE Getting more involved with the community). I hope to take what I've learn and expand and grow. I miss being involved in the community, and helping, expanding Dead End. IDEAS:If someone joins the group while I'm offline, I plan on contacting them via phone call to set up a time to get together for an interview. Just so I can meet each employee first hand. As for engaging people, a reporter is going to be outgoing, I'm going to be that and then some. My character doesn't know a stranger, and she also knows she needs to know as many people for sources as she can. I will use this to my advantage, my character doesn't know anyone right now. So to her all people are 'new' players. I should also add, I rp with anyone. One liners, to para as long as you give me something to go off of, I'll play back with ya. OTHER:Being new I was thinking of hosting a meet your editor in chief party. Personally inviting all managers of all businesses, and putting an ad in our paper for all else who want to attend. Maybe doing it on top of the parking garage. I'm debating formal or not (us women love dressing up every now and then). I would like to do an open bar type event. Maybe having an auction of some sort to help raise money for the paper. Being the beginning of Dec (and depending on time it takes to approve or not) have it holiday themed, maybe even bring in an old drunk Santa to let the ladies sit on his lap. |
