ava-mariasaidName: Ava Maria. Ava never was one for blending in. In fact, she's spent much of her life actively doing the opposite. Bold, brash and extroverted, Ava Maria isn't afraid to speak her mind, even if it gets her - or others - into trouble. With a penchant for danger and the darker side of life, Ava always says that trouble doesn't look for her, she looks for it. Despite growing up in a friendly small town, her predominantly alcoholic family unit drove her to move away at sixteen. Since then, she's just drifted from place to place, lending her hand to whatever she can, (aside from police work. She feels too much sympathy for those being put behind bars,) whenever she can. Ava tends to latch onto others and can become a hindrance because of this. Since her high school boyfriend passed away, (she won't talk about this much, past the occasional mumble of something about heroin and motorbikes,) Ava has felt a need to keep hold of the things near and dear to her; even if those things, or people, don't want to be anywhere near her. She's spent much of her life playing the victim. It was the only way Ava managed to ever get a job after leaving school at fifteen, not to mention that being the victim has always skewed in her favour. Whether it's love, lust, money, sex or something else entirely, Ava will pull the victim card in an attempt to earn either sympathy or empathy from everyone. When Ava left the 'family' home, she trucked herself around the country more or less, paying for free rides to the next state or a sofa to crash on any way she could. While working small jobs here and there, mainly in waitressing or bartending, (she likes to ignore the fact that the majority of those jobs involved her being some kind of naked,) Ava earned enough money to rent tiny apartments, but until now she's never stayed in one place for too long. With her wanderlust sated for the time being, Ava plans on staying in Dead End for a while. Why? The rents are low, the drinks are cheap, and there are plenty of people in the city who are crying out to be taken advantage of. What Ava fails to realise, however, is that Dead End is unlike any city or town she's ever been to before. Sure, she's seen her fair share of sleaze and had a few close encounters with both the law and deviants, but nothing that could possibly prepare her for what may come her way in Dead End. Willing to do anything, (yes, literally anything,) to earn money or to gain a foothold over others, Ava is malicious and vindictive. A master of the petty crime, she knows how to shoplift sneakily and has been known to dabble in dealing those little packets of illegal substances when her income allows for it. Even though Ava Maria may be a vindictive person by nature, she will fight to the death to protect anything or anyone that's important to her. After a dispute with a fellow small time dealer in one of the cities she passed through, Ava was attacked. There was nothing unusual in that, and Ava can hold her own in any fight that doesn't involve firearms, but she wasn't counting on having acid thrown in her face by her attacker. This left her with a facial disfigurement - which she now keeps hidden underneath a large lock of hair - and a loss of sight in one eye. If asked about her scar, Ava will tell others about how it happened, though she keeps the name of her attackers well under wraps. If there's anyone in the world that frightens her, the small group that took half of her sight away are them. Ava has seen a lot in her short life, but she secretly knows that she's got off lightly only losing one eye and not a limb after her scrapes with various undesirables. |
