For anybody who missed the in-world notice (SL groups, ya know) in regards to the sim performance of late, I bring you the same below, through the magic of copy and paste.
Happy New Year, Dead Enders!
Many of you who have frequented Dead End in the last week or two will have no doubt at some point fallen victim to the escalating instability and number of crashes the sim has suffered. Rest assured this has not escaped our attention, we've done what we can on our end to ensure nothing we have done is causing this issue (most of us who could have failed so spectacularly as to cause this were on holiday when it all began - phew) and that we've been in contact with Linden Labs in regards to this issue and have some form of positive news.
We've worked with them in attempting a number of changes to try and resolve the matter and they have now informed us that their engineers have identified a bug with the simulator and they have escalated this issue for their developers to work on. Unfortunately they can not give us an ETA at this time. In the meanwhile Linden Labs has moved Dead End to a new server to hopefully mitigate the number of crashes the sim has been hit with each day - so far things seem to have improved some.
Any player who is neither a staff member nor a tenant will have no doubt noticed their tilters etcetera no longer work in Dead End. As part of the process of working with Linden Labs on this issue we've disabled all scripts and object rezzing for objects and players not set to or in the land group. This change is temporary and will be reversed once we have been assured by Linden Labs that the bug has been entirely resolved and we're good to go.
Thank for you for bearing with us through this time, please know that we are equally as frustrated and troubled by this as you are and are doing our very best to see that this is sorted out as soon as is possible.
Kind Regards,
Kait Windlow
