Hello to everyone!
I am Laura, a uni student of Theatre Science. Within my studies I have done quite some academic work about Theatre of the Poor. During these studies I found it necessary to know the real world of the poor and underprivileged. Dead End seems to be the perfect place for that. Its streets are full of wannabe whores and mean looking guys desperately trying to appear as gangsters. It is obvious that they all try to compensate for the lack of opportunities in their lifes. How many of these excluded members of society have heard a friendly word, a nice song lately?
I feel that I need to bring some hope to those people, give them a smile and friendly words when they are in need of love and friendship. Some good people have warned me about the dangers in this part of town. I appreciate this but I believe that people are not bad because they are underprivileged but only because it's society that denies them a proper place. Who would do any harm to a person who comes to reach out her hand?
Anybody is always welcome to talk to me about his or her sadness. Feel free to approach me in order to talk. If you don't want to be seen with me by your whore and gangster mates I will meet you in private.
I think it also might be a great idea to develop a piece of street theatre together to show that there is lots of creativity and power within all of us. Wouldn't that be fantastic?
I'm looking forward to knowing you all!
yours Laura
