Mela is a 19 year old young woman from a town in the middle of Ohio. She grew up, sheltered, in a fundamentalist Christian home. Her weekends were filled with feeding the homeless. Her summers were Bible camp. When she was 18, she was kicked out of the house after he father found her in a compromising position with her boyfriend- they were kissing in the back of his car. Finding work where ever she could, usually at fast food places, she eventually saved up enough money for a bus ticket. She boarded a bus to the farthest place she could afford- Dead End. All that said, Mela is a woman that likes to give people the benefit of the doubt. She believes there's good in everyone, no matter how deep you need to look to find it. In general, she's nurturing. She's a true bleeding heart. Mela hasn't really given much thought to her future. She's not an ambitious person, she would much rather to be spontaneous and go where the wind takes her in the moment.
