After some debate and other things I have decided to put this post up to hopefully help with the court system in Dead End and what they can do to help your Rp... It seems to be a bit of a mystery, so hopefully this can clear it up some..

The citizens:

For the citizens of DE there are options as to what the court and legal offices of DE can do for you, or to you depending on what is needed.
Legal Defense and prosecution: This is the most basic thing that a lawyer can do for and to you. They can study evidence and help either keep your ass out of jail or help put it in there. They can also plea bargain for things like community service, phyce evals, bail, probation, restitution, and funding.
Divorces and other legal proceedings: This is cut and dry the basic day to day stuff that a lot of lawyers make their money on. It can be a simple and sweet signing or custody and alimony battles that stretch for days of Rp.
Investigations: The police have the job of policing the citizens, but who polices the police, that would be court hired investigators and Private Eyes, who's job it is to make sure that the evidence is what actually happened. These investigators are not a tagged role, but they are hired by defense and sometimes the DA himself for investigating cases of police corruption.

For the PD.
The same thing as in Rl the cops should work with lawyers with the prosecution to get the cleanest case possible. But they also have to work with the defense lawyers and investigators to make sure that there are no sneak attack trials. this kind of trial is frowned upon in the US. Its not always pretty and a lot of times the cops and the lawyers dont get along, its part of the fun of the possible story.
Warrants. Judges are responsible for them, an officer of rank must be given a reason why they are handing out the warrant. Judges are listen in the Pd forums and in the induction classes.. We are currently needing a couple more judges..
Homeland security special interrogation forums. Judges and the DA can had these out, for the "real truth" when they are given they basically say that the person who is being interrogated can kiss their human rights goodbye.. You will need to make sure you have a solid case to get one of these.. Ok not too solid.. Ok if you have the right money and the right judge anything is possible..
Fund holding probation parole 72 hour holds and various other legal tools for interrogation and holding.. Any judge or the DA can hand these out if given a good case..

This is to keep a slight system of checks and balances in Dead End.. The roles are there, but we all have to be able to play on the same page to make sure that both the PD and the courts are on the same page and neither turns the other into a castrated toothless entity..
