The following is merely a proposal at the moment, no action is going to be taken on it at the present time. We're waiting to see an influx or regular activity of members of the DEPD in order to set this proposal in motion. It will require a more active base than we have now with officers on the sim on an almost daily basis.

The idea behind it is to get the DEPD organised and more actice. I'd like to see the DEPD more in sync with the theme of the sim and the new factions either accepted or going through proposal at the moment. As well as give more of a chance for intense/fun/exciting RP involving the DEPD to different extents. In order to do this i have worked on the idea of one day creating task forces for the DEPD. Each one with a specific aim to deal with. I hope it'll make the process of promotion more meanginful and encourage players to work hard at their RP with an achievable aim of promotion and/or acceptance into a specialised role. I'm hoping if this comes about eventually it will make RP planning and development a little easier and concise.

So the proposed task forces are:
Street: The standard uniform division of the DEPD as it is now, a mix of good, bad and corrupt cops, all putting themselves in the line of fire on a daily basis, this is the entry level for uniformed officers, who will have to prove themselves before promotion or an opportunity to move into one of the tasks forces come their way.

Detectives: The standard plain clothes, investigative division of the DEPD as it is now, not sure how much can come from this as the actual investigation of crimes is needed rarely on sim. Perhaps they would be better served as an undercover section, dropping officers into criminal factions, though this would probably require the players involved to be a sub/bottom, given that being found and captured is inevitable and in most cases, the only outcome possible.

IAD: The smallest of departments, filled with no more than two or three ranking officers, these are the ones that investiage within the DEPD, some getting to nosey and finding themselves in over their heads or simply corrupt and in it for blackmail, extortion and profiting off of other officers..

Customs and Narcotics, a group of officers lead by a lietenant and/or sergeant, concerned with tackling crimes relating to narcotics and any illegal smuggling through the docks. In actual fact, corrupt elements make it easier for the smugglers and dealers to get their products into and out of the city as well as it's distrubution, with, in some cases officers making it their business full stop. From a straight law enforcement point of view, officers could be used to ensure that dealers are kept out of plain sight, forcing users to find them down dark alley ways and such.

Counter Gang, Terrorism and Major Crime unit, a selection of officers run by a captain to deal with major and organised crime as well as gangs and their associated turf war problems. Same as above really on the outside there to stop these people but in reality actually assist them. Again, from a straight up law enforcement point of view it should help keep things balanced and under control, stopping crimes becoming to overt and in a way, stopping unofficial gangs from taking route in the sim. Major RP events could be brought out of this with the officers also trained to deal with major incidents such as hostage situations, robberies, terror attacks and other things along those lines, though strictly on a one off basis, maybe an extra OOC reward for officers showing up regulary?

Vice, targetting the vice business(es) in DE, they effectively become official pimps, harrassing the street girls, taking their money, using them for free. This task force could be the most corrupt (fits perfectly in with the sim theme) and get away with it, run by another captain, this would be the dark underbelly of the DEPD.

N.B. As mentioned in the organised crimes section, a select few officers (who RP regularly and have a base standard of RP) forming this task force and the others could take on the role of a S.T.A.R.S type outfit when needed, i stress that's not SWAT but a specialist rescue team tasked with bringing an end to sieges etc...

These as i say are just a proposal for now but i'd like to see what input and suggestion people have about it as well as any other ideas DEPD members or any registered sim player has for the DEPD. Feel free to discuss it here ๐Ÿ™‚ .
