DEPD

SLURL:

BACKGROUND: As DEPD captain, I would like ensure that the DEPD takes a harder stance in solving crimes, such as using false bench warrants to arrest people--particularly known associates of those suspected of the crimes--in order to interrogate them about who was involved in perpetrating the crimes. Overall, there would a be a tough stance against crime. Fight fire with fire, right? Regular events: Raiding businesses, drug busts, assign inmates to community service under guard (like cleaning up the streets or arranging with business owners some kind of deal for free labor). Those are a few examples of regular events that could take place. New Employees: I would try to make rookies feel included be sending them out with a full officer for a week or two on patrol and to investigate crimes. They would be shielded from some of the darker aspects of the DEPD until they were full officers. At the end of the stint with a full officer, the rookies will be quizzed on the practical things they have learned about being a DEPD officer. After the quiz, some might be put through more rigorous training for particular roles, depending on their character. I would like to develop a wide spectrum of officers, from the goody-two shoes to those who aren't afraid to use violence and blackmail to solve crimes. It would be boring if everyone was into the same stuff. Balance and variety will make the DEPD more interesting, and could lead to some interesting character conundrums. My character: Marty is a reluctant leader. She was hesitant to take the position of lieutenant in the first place due to the added responsibility. Under pressure to solve crimes, Marty would authorize roughing up certain people while trying to keep her hands clean from the dirtier stuff, just in case the press comes knocking. A lot of the current cops already look to Marty as the de facto leader in the absence of a captain, so it would be a short step in the eyes of the current cops for her to become the captain.

UNIQUE: I would like to make the DEPD stand out from the others by using DEPD resources to solve crimes using "any means necessary," such as the examples stated above, such as arresting people on false premises. Thus the DEPD would become a bit more feared and respected, as well as hated by certain members of the community.

EXPERIENCE:I have been RPing the DEPD for about a year now, and I think that the time I have spent in the DEPD has helped me see a wide variety of RP, and experience dealing with some sticky situations. As for personal qualities, I am willing and able to collaborate with the group leaders on regular events and major crime plots. I am also able to delegate to others when I need help. I will definitely be asking for help from other DEPD people when I need it.

IDEAS:I plan on helping them by assigning them an officer to work with, as close as possible to the times they are on SL and in DE, as well as introducing myself and telling them ICly what I expect of new recruits to the DEPD. As for new players on sim, I try to engage as many people as possible outside of the DEPD with what little time I have outside of the DEPD.

OTHER:For a grand re-opening....well does the DEPD need a re-opening? Haha! Anyway, I would probably call a meeting of the superior officers and lay out an action plan and ask for updates on everyone's cases and get IC input.
