BACKGROUND: If I were chosen to lead the DEPD again, I would like to restructure the DEPD so that there is a more clear chain of command so that it will make it easier for newer people to get used to the DEPD without being confused as to who they answer to, which can be organized according to rank with separate divisions being created (ideally according to times people log on to play). Ranks will have more clearly defined responsibilities, such as rookies simply learning the ropes and following senior officers around, officers doing a lot of the grunt work, detectives taking the evidence officers gather and putting it together, over them will sergeants overseeing their divisions. The lieutenants make sure things are running smoothly and will trouble shoot problems in the ranks. The captain will have the big picture in mind, be the visionary and the public face of the DEPD as well as the liaison with the FD and the Courts, as well as begin the face for the media. Having a clear structure and better defined roles will go a long way into making new rookies feel welcome so that they jump right in to the DEPD RP. As for regular events, I would work with other players in the DE community to set up long-term story lines that would lead to regular cop RP, such as rallies and celebrations, serial killer story lines, and in general, chat with the players who role play as criminals to see what kind of role-play we could develop in order to make life fun for all. Marty would fit into the position of leader because she is known in the community as being the former leader, so it would be easy for her to slide back into her former position. She is one of the characters that has been around the DEPD longer than most of the other players, albeit with a bit of an absence. OOC I am a dedicated RPer that will throw my heart and soul into the role in order to make the DEPD become a better institution.

UNIQUE: The DEPD already stands out by nature because it is the police station. The only way to make it stand out even further is by making sure it can run smoothly and well, and attract more cops so that there will be a very public presence on the street and to change the way the DEPD is perceived by the public to make them more approachable by victims and scarier to criminals. I think that will come with tightening the ship in order to streamline processing scenes and actually completing a criminal story line so that other role-players will be encouraged to include the DEPD in their plot lines instead of going vigilante on each other.

EXPERIENCE:As a person, I can be laid back and relaxed, not letting IC and OOC stuff that happens affect me, as many people can attest to from role playing with me. I think that the DEPD needs a leader with a calm and level head behind the screen who knows that this is just a game, but a game that can be fun for all if done right. I enjoy helping other people enjoy role-playing by enhancing their story lines with a cop presence. I was also a former captain in the DEPD, so I know what it takes to be the captain, as well as what the captain has to deal with IC and OOC in order to get things up and running again at the DEPD.

IDEAS:The way that I think new players should be engaged is on both and IC and OOC level. I like to check to make sure that people know that Marty can be abrasive ICly but that I totally welcome them to DE and/or the DEPD. I do my best to guide them through getting started. New players need to feel welcome on an OOC level in order to feel comfortable on and IC level. In order to do that, I plan on making sure I greet new rookies and help them get started, and encourage other officers to do the same, especially detectives and above.

OTHER:For a grand re-opening, I think it would be fun to run and open house where members of the public can come in and voice their complaints about the DEPD, perhaps setting up a table in the plaza, and officers would takes notes on all of it, more for show than for actual practical purposes, making sure to ensure public goodwill, and the more serious the complaint, the higher up the chain of command it would go. The idea behind it is to foster RP from the start of the new phase in the DEPD in order to test drive how the DEPD should be structured, as well as encourage more interaction between cops and the general public so that the public would feel more comfortable approaching a cop when they are victims of crimes.
