Is anyone currently playing or has anyone currently played this role? I like the idea of roleplaying this character, a sort of nerdy, scruffy, soft-spoken guy that nobody really takes seriously, but alone with his parolees he's vicious, quick to point out how he can have them sent back to prison with ease and that only by keeping on his good side can they avoid having to carry out the rest of their sentence. He takes a cut of any parolee's illegal activities in exchange for keeping them out of his reports and preys on the vulnerable. Junkies end up owing him favours before they've even started. He's a sociopathic kind of guy who whilst in reality is as bad as if not worse than the parolees he's responsible for keeping tabs on, views them as verminous offenders lesser than himself.

Obviously he'll face challenges in making sure nobody tips off the DEPD about his abuse of power and maintaining his professional credibility whilst he secretly uses his position for his own sadistic gains, and he's bound to be caught sooner or later.

My questions are 1) is it allowable / fair to play this role and 2) how to play it effectively without metagaming. Identifying new parolees in DE presents a small problem, however my thinking in getting around the metagaming problem (at least with regards to the character knowing too much in the traditional sense of DE RP) would be to conduct interviews in the Justice Department offices, or elsewhere around the city where he invites the parolee to provide the info. There would be the question of whether or not this guy really was who he was claiming to be, or whether he belonged in prison or the asylum himself, but little doubt about the fact that he could send parolees back to prison with a single phone call. As time goes on and he starts adding some other scary characters to his rolodex, he could call on their services to assist him in keeping other parolees "in check" or ensuring those enterprising souls still looking to make money illegally are hooked up with the "right" people all to ensure he still gets his cut from them.

I'd appreciate your input as I think this could be a fun role to play and provide some great, tense or downright scary interactions for others to enjoy. Hopefully its a new kind of villain I'm bringing to DE and I'd love to be able to do it right
