BACKGROUND: I want to take this business in the direction it's always intended to be - dark and seedy. The Dark Room shouldn't just be another bar. It has the perfect location in the RLD for those who enjoy darker aspects to RP and want to do something aside from just drink. My intent with the Dark Room is to bring in more interaction with the themes Dead End has always been focused on. That means BDSM, bondage, Kidnapping and forced themes. To be realistic, the way I want to start out with this club and the events will be smaller, but I have much broader ideas that I feel can come in time with story and character development. Events that I would like to start out with are Fetish Balls - one a month preferably, they will be ways for people to come and gather and dress up, drink, mingle and have fun. As RP progressed in the club I would eventually like to get more into the kidnapping themes. Whether it be hiring outside hands to bring in victims to put on display/for use at the club or finding the means to do so myself. Luring girls in to be bondage models for good pay checks when in reality they'd be forced into much more. I really have a lot of possibilities for this but the goal is the same - keep the RP fitting around the themes the club is meant for. It will be a "safe place" for characters to come and indulge in their vices without worrying about staff spilling the beans - at least this would be Peninnah's intent. If something else happens beyond her hand, then it just opens up even more opportunity for RP in different directions. I would want to advertise the Dark Room openly as a bondage bar and club - staff will be requested to be in bondage gear when they are on shift and depending where RP goes might even be forced/requested into doing more than that if a customer pays right. Of course that part of it would be hush hush. As far as how my character would fit into management - the things I am proposing up right now I am proposing knowing they are realistic things my character would do/enforce. I am hoping that with Peninnah's involvement with the cult and her story gets going things can even get darker. She is a newer character and this is where the story is leading so far and I feel completely confident saying all of the things mentioned are within her character. I am also hoping her involvement with the Adherent's can tie into this and we can get some cross story going between the faction and the business because it just simply seems fitting. When it comes to new employees first of all OOCly I would be friendly to them, let them know a bit about what the club is themed about and get a feel for what they are trying to do in their story. If I can help them ICly with their story by doing something at the club then I would be more than happy to do that. Work with the employees side by side, generate RP with them and for them in their job - give them a reason to stay.
UNIQUE: The business itself is already unique, there is nothing else like it in Dead End. I want the Dark Room to stand out by being a bar in DE that is not Vanilla. There is nothing wrong with that, but DE has quiet a few and think by molding the RP of this club around the darker themes DE is based upon we can start to get some of themes back to the forefront, and I know that is something that has been requested for awhile. We have plenty of Innocents on the sim who are itching for the RP that I feel this business has the opportunity to be a hub of. If Lurkers start to ICly find out they can bring their victims to the Dark Room and have a 'safe' space to hide, then maybe they will start to do so. There are really just endless possibilities with this, nothing is cut and dry, it's about where the story drives it.
EXPERIENCE:I ran the Cinema in Dead End for two years, and also at one point duel managed the Massage Parlor before I had to leave SL. I know what it takes to run a business on this sim. In my time as manager of the Cinema it was often one of the businesses that was the slowest and produced the least RP but I stuck it out anyways, I was always there trying to initiate RP with people and come up with ideas to get RP into the business. I am extremely patient and have the will to stick these sorts of slow periods out, should they happen. Being a presence in the business will be important to me - if no one is there, then no one is going to RP. I was also a mod on the sim at one point in time and I know how to handle OOC conflict should it be neccesary. I think my past track record hopefully shows I'm a fair player and friendly overall at that. While this character might be new the player behind it remains the same, I've been back on sim actively for a few months now and know that I can handle running a business again should this get approved. I am the type of person that will RP with anyone, new or old as well.
IDEAS:Greet them OOC - let them know you're a person, you're present and ready to RP with them. Let them know a bit about the direction I'm trying to take the business in and see how they may feel their character would be a fit - or how they would like their story to be effected by this business. I love to help out with the story of others.. I'm pretty fond of the idea that you should let other people be the star and not constantly focus on your own story 24/7. This is what I would like to do. Engage them ICly and help push and drive their story using the business as much as I can, as it will in return just create more RP for the business. It's a give and take. The goal of course is to keep them comfortable and active in the business. Reward those who spend their time on sim on the business ICly. Listen to OOC ideas staff have for ideas, events, etc.
OTHER:I have some ideas but I do want it to be a surprise and things would need to be fine tuned should we get there. But I'd like for it to be a Fetish Ball as mentioned above with some low key twists and surprises.
