New Premises

At last I've found the perfect spot to set up my little home (some might call it a lair) in the slum that is Deadend City.

After some back and forthing with the estate agent, I've got a sweet deal on an office and garage for the Taxi business and a nice little apartment upstairs to rent out to some sweet young thing looking for a cheap place to live, nothing quite like having it easily on hand, although i must make sure she doesn't have any friends or relatives that would miss her if she  " left town" all of a sudden.

So for the time being, Terra Taxi's (catchy name ain't it) will offer legit transport around the town, but i intend striking deals with the assorted low lives around who need merchandise moved about.

I guess I'll need to recruit some of my old buddies from Parchman to drive too.

First time on duty

Dec 5th
Last evening I went on duty for the first time in Dead End.  Not minutes after I was on the clock, dispatch reported a potential kidnapping at Lulu's bar.  By the time I got there, all was quiet, and the locals seemed apathetic about the whole thing.  At first I thought they might not have seen anything, but it wasn't that.  It was a lack of concern.  Officer Risk Douglas, a new acquaintance, was on scene shortly after me.  I sent him one direction and scoured the streets on foot in the other, but fruitlessly.  They were gone, and I couldn't even find someone who'd seen which way they went.  My first call, and I failed.  I'm not a beat cop or a patrolman, but old habits die hard.  I should have gotten this one.

I've barely gotten to know the city at all.  That's an outright lie, I don't know it at all.  My Captain would be disgusted with me if he knew how I handled that.

Promotion

Nov 29th, 11:05 PM
It's finally happening.  I've written plenty in the past about how much I've wanted to be a Detective.  Anyone who read my journal (and no one had better, by the way) would see the pages and pages of notes on tests, or personal little investigations.  At last, though, it's all come true.  Today, I was called into the Captain's office to be given the good news, and my new badge.  I've been promoted!  I made Detective!

Underground?

I dunno how the hell I ended up here. I walked outta that door and it jus' felt so damn free. The smell of the waste behind me. The wretches of the fuckin' earth they were. Filling that place to the rafters with their funk. I was so glad to be outside those fuckin' bars, I didn't give a damn where I was headin'. This city is, dead? I saw a few locals standin' in the street talkin' Sounded like some fella was coming off the same track as me? I dunno some black mark that runs the local bar was welcomin' him from someplace. I guess I jus' never got a welcome home unless it was me comin' in from lockdown; kid coulda been jus' gettin' home from the library, fuck if I know.

I wandered around, keepin' to myself as usual. Found a clinic, stumbled on some fella movin' into his new place on the wharf. Kid wasn't very talkative, and way overdressed for the area. Those are the ones you gotta watch. Settin' up shop to hide somethin' those are.

Let them try!

One of my hard working new recruits as been doing a great job in gathering street intelligence.  She has passed along some fascinating information to me.  It seems that some of the local toughs think that they intimated the local DEPD by threats upon the lives of senior officers.  Two even came up with idea of feeding me to a crocodile.  Well let them try.  I have earlier adventures with marine life and survived and I will again.  This is one officer who stands up to the toughest of criminal will fight back.
