After a few years of wanderin' around, I walked into this town. Rough-lookin' joint with barely a single damn road sign that doesn't say "Dead End."
 
Passin' the hospital and the police station while I was just lookin' around pretty much confirmed why. Seems people thought that this town really was a dead end.
 
The whole place looked like a movie I'm sure I'd seen. Pretty bleak and desolate but the main difference is that there aren't any cars with armor jerry-rigged to it  and all these tribal types fightin' tooth and nail over feul.
 
Plenty of vacancies in the apartment buildings. Streets are broken and about the only two bustling industries in town are the law enforcement type and thugs.
 
Walked by this place called "Lulu's" and stepped in. Whole buncha unsavory characters doing a whole lotta unsavory shit. Bikers hanging around wearing colors and it didn't look good. I didn't hang around too long. All those guys gathered up like that could only mean one thing. Someone was going to get beaten down or some shady deals were going on.

In the wake of last month's siege of the Deadend Police Station by the terrorist group Blue Dawn, Mayor Ephran Ehrler has announced an initiative to crack down on crime and increase the effectiveness of the DEPD. To help accomplish these goals the mayor is turning to former Deadend Police Chief Lucy Morrisey who has recently rejoined the DEPD after leading the successful effort to retake the police station from Blue Dawn.

"The days of lax tolerance for crime in our city are numbered", said Mayor Ehrler. "Captain Morrisey has a fresh approach combining vigilance with specifically-tailored tactics, and she and Chief Hultcrantz will of course have the full backing of City Hall in this endeavor."

     Time flies when you’re having fun, and she was having a lot of fun. Maybe one day she’d go back to her father and take a place in the Russian mob, but not until his little princess had become deadly enough to give any man in his regime a run for his money.
     Or would she return? She had played her wicked little games in so many cities that they were all blurring together, until Dead End. Here, for the first time in her life, she had found a home, a family, and a town whose P.D. was highly ineffective. Perhaps she’d stay for a very long time.
     She never was terribly far from her father’s mind, though, and he from hers, especially when she needed money, which is how she bought the cute little home she now had and why she was sitting in a silk kimono, out of her usual uniform of leather, on a swing writing in a small, leather-bound book.

 Ah, time.
 
As I write this, quite some has passed since I last set pen to paper. Being the creature of habit that I am I confess it simply does not feel quite...right to record my thoughts elsewhere but in the privacy of my own journal. The idea of it, the concept of it that I had created in my mind was, in a word, sacrosanct. And when that journal was taken, I nearly lost all.
 
Still. I do not make a point of shying from lessons as they are presented, and indeed in this one I learned that nothing is as sacred as we might believe it to be. One might consider it a flaw, given events, that I am setting down thoughts to paper again at all, given those who might try to use such against me, and perhaps a flaw it is. Nevertheless, it is a personal conceit, and one I do not forego lightly. There is a sense of organization which accompanies this practice, and I am fond of it, regardless of the danger it might represent.
